After much anticipation Santa and Christmas have come and gone… the squeals of joy from children is already fading and parents and grandparents fall into naps exhausted by early risings.
It is time to go through all the family pictures taken and smile ! Time for a prayer of gratitude to God for the presence of some family members this year and more prayers in memory of those who are no longer here.
So come along with me as I go through my Christmas memories … Farewell to Christmas 2023.
Christmas Eve… Fun at Walsh and Mollie’s house… wonderful food , white elephant games, children making Christmas cookies, and beautiful decor!
Walsh and Mollie took me back to my happy place because the children wanted to see my sweet neighbor Ann …whom we all adore and she was so happy to see the grandchildren.
So until tomorrow… Santa has left but his message of giving and happiness remains in God’s everlasting love for us!
Today is my favorite day! Winnie the Pooh
*** Let’s please add a prayer for my ” bestie” Brooke who took herself to the ER yesterday with the congestion that is running rampart in our state-good thing -after X-Ray /doctor was able to give her antibiotics and other medications to hopefully ward off pneumonia or something else more serious…but he said she could not have waited any longer to come… so the Ya’s are all praying for a quick and complete recovery…
And we should all pray for so many friends who had to cancel family gatherings this year due to COVID and the FLU. ( SC is one of the two highest states in US with the influx of these two pulmonary diseases attacking! )
It is so nice to have five year old Eloise who still possesses the ” WONDER” of Christmas!
I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents
were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my
grandmother’s house that my love of storytelling began beside an old
Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended
Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters
Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am
presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also
taught at the College of Charleston.
For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy
matched Rudyard Kipling’s quote: “If history were taught in the form of
stories, it would never be forgotten.” Today I still spread this message
through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret
of success in teaching social studies is always in the story.
I want to keep learning and being surprised by life…it is the greatest
teacher. Like Kermit said, “When you’re green you grow, when you’re
ripe you rot.”
Merry Christmas time🎄🎅🏼🙏🎁😊
