I must admit I have felt the presence of angels here more than anytime in the past that I can remember …and that ” presence” has brought me such comfort!
So I told Mandy that the little artificial Christmas tree we were planning on putting up together this year at my new ” home” will be our family Angel Tree! And yesterday we put it up in my new abode !
( And one immediate change …Ruthie the Angel doll ( from the children’s favorite Christmas story The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree now is sitting low to watch over the other angels instead of at the tip tip top ! )
Tommy stopped by and brought a cord that would fit the appropriate plug so no one would trip over a floor cord!
The Christmas Cactus I gave Susan Cadwell one Christmas long ago had gone through some ” health” problems … now is back… and beautiful! 🙏🏻
So until tomorrow… May we all embrace the special angels sent to us through all our troubled detours … there is a reason for each departure. We just need to keep the faith!
PS Susan -hope I can follow this cactus’s health path!!!
I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents
were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my
grandmother’s house that my love of storytelling began beside an old
Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended
Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters
Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am
presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also
taught at the College of Charleston.
For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy
matched Rudyard Kipling’s quote: “If history were taught in the form of
stories, it would never be forgotten.” Today I still spread this message
through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret
of success in teaching social studies is always in the story.
I want to keep learning and being surprised by life…it is the greatest
teacher. Like Kermit said, “When you’re green you grow, when you’re
ripe you rot.”
I love that thought that angel watch over us and I have felt that way ever since I lost my beloved grandmother when I was 15.
My family name is Caldwell, but mine are from Lucedale, Miss.
Becky…I will be reading the Book The Year of the Perfect Christmas Trer at FES along with other ADK sisters when we go as “reindeer” readers on Dec 12th. I was taking my tiny little Ruthie that you gave me and I intend to share how my.dear friend Becky Dinlge met the real Ruthie and also the author of the book Gloria Houston. Love you sweet friend….
