I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents
were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my
grandmotherโs house that my love of storytelling began beside an old
Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended
Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters
Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am
presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also
taught at the College of Charleston.
For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy
matched Rudyard Kiplingโs quote: โIf history were taught in the form of
stories, it would never be forgotten.โ Today I still spread this message
through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret
of success in teaching social studies is always in the story.
I want to keep learning and being surprised by lifeโฆit is the greatest
teacher. Like Kermit said, โWhen youโre green you grow, when youโre
ripe you rot.โ
Becky…what a sweet and enduring act of love and kindness…your new home is so welcoming…wherever you land there will be peace…love and joy because of you and the wonderful children you raised…๐โค๏ธ๐
So sweet but am stunned they all have such talents and contributed all of them completely ! This experience is teaching me a lot about my adult children! ๐
My dear friend, I think this exercise is teaching you a lot about you, and how those adult children became who they are. To be loved like this is such a blessing – rather like the blessing you were to them. I remember some of our long discussions along the Dingle-Poole Expressway when we first retired and worked 4-5 days a week all over the state. I knew the quality of your children through your stories, just as you came to know the quality of mine.
Your new little nest is so comfy and cozy. Just perfect for a nice, quiet, easy, time for healing. Are you up to visitors?
Yes…. but starting in a week might be best… I have so many hospice nurses/ therapists coming- they tell me the days they are coming but no specific time… each week-makes it hard to plan but will get this straightened out so I can have friends drop by with time to catch up!
Will get back with you after my next ” medical visit” and confirmed a time! Miss you!!!๐๐ป๐
Welcome Inn! You have a new nest where we know family and friends will always feel Welcome! Grateful with you for this place to call home and your loved ones who are helping you get situated and settled. May His love, joy and peace surround you there today and always.
I am not surprised to see all that going on. Your family is wonderful and they love you. You are loved by so many people. Also, admired and respected. Thinking of you Becky and praying for you. I know God has been looking out for you throughout your life!
