No Two Trips Are Ever the Same…

Dear Reader:

The past two days have been such a whirlwind… my head is still spending! Friday night out with my adult family just made me happy. It gets harder and harder it seems these days to gather and especially alone where we can all concentrate on what each other of us is saying! So many funny stories. Great meal, birthday dessert and a quick look at the hidden romantic life of downtown Charleston that Kaitlyn and I were taken to by Walsh.

One block down from the Oak’s … a secluded residential alleyway with gorgeous courtyards and adorable housing apartments… a secret life few ever see…
I felt like I was walking into an enchanted storybook life…

As I think back on all my trips around the sun… no two have ever been the same. Good times or bad… life is constantly changing and surprising us… it never stays the same for long. This inherent truth many of us fight against to the end… but truth always wins in the end and accepting change for what it is ( as hard as that is) opens us up to opportunities and possibilities we would never have discovered left to our own wants.

After my birthday dinner came Jake’s party -Saturday morning…it was a bouncing success!

Lachlan my gymnastics grandson back flipped throughout all the bounce rooms.
Eva Cate and Ila Gray joined right in with the boys and had a great time!

Jake turned eight this year and Boo didn’t… but I hopefully turned more life lessons lived and learned into becoming an improved version of the ‘ happy to be alive’ me!

At the rate Jake is growing I will probably be sitting in his lap next year!

And thank goodness for my new Clemson sweatshirt… I think the Tigers decided to give me a surprise birthday party present… and waited to the last ” second” to give it to me! ( In overtime) A Win! Great gift!!!!

Win One for Boo’s Birthday!!! But wait to the last minute in overtime to give it to her!!!!

So until tomorrow… I am completely overwhelmed by all the love I have felt on my birthday… cards, well wishes, gifts, calls, texts and flowers… I am the luckiest woman in the world to feel such love around me! Thank and Bless each of you!!!

Today is my FAVORITE Day!!! Winnie the Pooh

Right birthday colors -purple asters and orange roses

About Becky Dingle

I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my grandmother’s house that my love of storytelling began beside an old Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also taught at the College of Charleston. For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy matched Rudyard Kipling’s quote: “If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.” Today I still spread this message through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret of success in teaching social studies is always in the story. I want to keep learning and being surprised by life…it is the greatest teacher. Like Kermit said, “When you’re green you grow, when you’re ripe you rot.”
