Dear Reader:
If someone had ever asked me to guess what was the last thing on earth I would see- I never would have guessed a red metal ladder heading straight towards my front car windshield !
I was on Interstate 526 yesterday taking Ben to meet his son, Lee, at an assisted living facility on Daniel Island we were going to tour.
A pick-up truck with a company logo on the sides was right in front of us. Ben and I were talking and I was doing my best to build Ben’s spirits up as to how wonderful this place was… and believe me it was!
Suddenly a red metal ladder in the back of the pick -up truck became airborne flying higher and higher. I felt like I was frozen in time. Everything slowed down as Ben and I watched the end of the ladder projecting straight towards us.
I remember saying… ” I think this is it Ben” and he responding with “Yep!”
There was no way to try pulling over to the other lane because traffic was bumper to bumper and as other cars passing me began witnessing what was happening they started blowing their horns and screaming at the truck driver!
At the very last second I went to cover my face from the certain crash and splintering of the windshield…the back end of the ladder was suddenly thrust down and the ladder capitulated over to the side lane barrier and down an embankment sparing other lives.
As I exited onto Daniel Island I slowed down-my whole body shaking and pulled over as two cars behind me slowed down and rolled down their windows -one man screamed how lucky I was while the passenger in the second car made a prayer hand formation and pointed at Ben and me.
Talk about a prayer of Thanksgiving …. all I was certain of was that God wasn’t through with me or Ben yet! And I reminded Ben of it!
I looked at Ben dazed in his seat and said ” It’s just not out time yet Ben… we are just changing course! ”
So until tomorrow… Believe in angels…you have your very own…because you are God’s special child….you will never be alone.
” Today is my favorite day.” Winnie the Pooh
Maybe the torn red blurry bloom of my hisbiscius was a warning wink of what was to come this morning!
Wow! So glad you are here to tell the tale. Dennis tries never to follow trucks with things piled in the rear. Bless you two and hugs!
The thing was it just had two tools on the bottom of the bed behind the pickup…would never have even noticed anything in the back if the ladder had not been so bright red…just a rake and ladder lying on the bottom of the bed which was pretty deep…how that ladder “flew” is beyond any comprehensible reasoning….I still can’t believe it.
Well, the Lord spared the both of you! Physical proof the Holy Spirit is with you and thwarted the effort to take your lives. All your service, prayers came to put a barrier around you both. So, glad you are here to tell us about it all. So praise the Lord! May he always be there for you both. There would be great sadness if you had left us. I was feeling afraid as I was reading. So very glad that you were not injured in any way, other than mentally with rear and I am sure some adrenaline surge! I am adding prayers of thankfulness for you both today for sure.
Another miracle…been worried about you…just hearing from you again has made me so happy Johnny. Even crazy flying red ladders can bring joy indirectly.
Oh, Becky, how thankful I am that miracles still happen, when prayers are answered. Praise the Lord! I thank God for both of your lives, especially for your family and those five beautiful grandchildren who need to keep hearing your stories!
Please Lord thank you for the stories that have brought me such joy and thank you for allowing to hang around a little longer to keep passing my love onto my grandchildren.
Oh my goodness…thank the Lord you are ok. We had something rolling down the road at us yrs ago coming home from babysitting in Columbia. It was night and all of a sudden it appeared. Thete was no way Fred could avoid it without hitting someone so it went under our car and tore out the transmission…fortunately we were able to make it to the reststop a few miles before it died…driving is scary sometimes…so thankful yall are ok…
It is amazing how fast but yet how slow time changes in fractions of a second while pending between life and death.
God was definitely your co-pilot on this one! What a close call! This was a definite miracle for sure!
God sure was Pam..it truly was a miracle…I hope the rest of my life deserves this second change. Praise God!.
….this second CHANCE! 🙂
That had to be the scariest of moments. I am so thankful the ladder made that turn. I have to believe that God’s hand was protecting you. I’m guessing that you and your readers will be very aware of trucks carrying stuff. Thankful prayers!
There is no doubt that God/angels were there in a neo-second moment when time stopped and I began watching the situation unfold from outside the danger zone…as calmly as if I were just a casual observer…so strange but yet eerily serene.
Wow Becky! So glad you and Ben are OK! That had to of been extremely scary… And you are right… God is not done with you or Ben yet 🙏🏻💕
Thank goodness for that…and I do feel the urge to do something to earn this second chance I have been given…the right situation with the right timing will come no doubt.
Oh my goodness Becky… God really saved you and uncle Ben that day.. I can imagine how it wud have been for you at the time… Scary experience. God is great indeed…. Mighty praises to the Lord…loads of love n prayers.
Thank you Ambika…God definitely still has plans for both of us …our paths aren’t over…just taking a new turn.
