About Becky Dingle
I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents
were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my
grandmotherās house that my love of storytelling began beside an old
Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended
Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters
Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am
presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also
taught at the College of Charleston.
For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy
matched Rudyard Kiplingās quote: āIf history were taught in the form of
stories, it would never be forgotten.ā Today I still spread this message
through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret
of success in teaching social studies is always in the story.
I want to keep learning and being surprised by lifeā¦it is the greatest
teacher. Like Kermit said, āWhen youāre green you grow, when youāre
ripe you rot.ā

“I think I can…I think I can!” š
Good luck, Becky. I just bought a new Samsung S7 two-in-one for traveling this year (hope springs eternal). It is quite a chore, comparing and knowing what you want. My problem is that I like all of the bells and whistles, and Douglas has to remind me that I will never use them. Looking forward to receiving my new work companion on Monday.
You are much more tech savvy than me friend! My problem is…I have done the same thing for so long on an old desk top computer…a decade…that learning all the new bells and whistles leaves me quite vulnerable. But that’s okay too…another part of life…changing and staying current is an important aspect of living a fulfilled life. Thanks for your encouragement!
