Dear Reader:
Yesterday turned out to be a day full of possibilities...with all the credit going to Jeff Quire…my yard maintenance extraordinaire!
Ever since we first moved to 100 Rainbow Road…the perimeter between my house and my neighbor’s house on the corner has been a “jungle.” A mixture of bamboo from one rental house that sat for a long time abandoned while the bamboo took over…but also a mixture of wild camellias and other natural beauties fighting for survival.
Jeff arrived and for almost four hours bravely went where no other yard manager has dared…taking down “wanna be” shrubs who dreamed once of being trees…twisted “ropes” that look more like branches that vines. He hacked, sawed, and “buzzed” as much away as possible.
When I went out to look I was thrilled…I haven’t seen that much driveway on the right side of the yard since we moved there back in the early eighties. Jeff is also getting a friend to take down some much needed dangerous oak branches that could endanger my roof and chimney.
As Jeff began talking to me about some other “possibilities” for the future and expanded gardens…I just smiled…a lawn “possibilitarian!” 🙂 Who knew? God sent me just the right person to help my dreams along.
…Ideas of clearing out sections of the jungle to plant gardenias along with the moon flowers….his possibilities were endless.
Yesterday was, also, “Ash Wednesday”… traditionally the start of the Lent season …six weeks of penitence before Easter. A day of prayer and fasting…once again my prayers turned to gratitude…for having just the right people show up in my life to help me surround myself in beauty on every side of the house…not just the back garden.
Yesterday was also a personal/ historical benchmark day for me ….I got my second moderna vaccination! I felt like I did on graduation day…I wanted to jump up and run around Publix yelling “I did it…I did it…I really, finally did it!”
The sun peeked out for about an hour yesterday and then decided to hang it up…but even with just a little sun…Mollie…look at the potted surprises you gave me…some little yellow smiles are forming and striped surcies!

Oh happy day! We are getting our 1st one Sunday…Lord willing and the creek doesn’t rise…your yard looks wonderful. Looking forward to getting ice cream.
So happy for you and pray you don’t have any side effects with others medicines.
