Dear Reader:
When we fully realize one day that “relinquishment involves no loss” since we spiritually own nothing on this earth… we have truly come full circle..understanding that our whole existence is based on impermanence which translates to temporary “renting” or stewardship of material resources but never truly owning any form of materialism in our lives.
David Doan, responding to this article in awakin.org titled “Abandon Only What is Not Yours” ( Sheila Catherine) is right on mark when he observes:
“Not only is it an illusion that I possess things, it is an illusion that there are things to possess. So, for me to relinquish what I really don’t have and really doesn’t exist is relinquishment that involves no loss. In the apparent world, I behave as though I possess things, but in reality I don’t possess anything. I live in the apparent but am not of it.”
“I don’t know when I stopped being of the apparent, that is, let go of the leash — I know it was a long time ago, and it’s an awareness that has become more clear over the years. What helps me recognize the impermanence of things in my daily life is implied in the question itself, that is, “things in my daily life” are impermanent, as are all things, be they apparent for a moment, a day, a lifetime, or a millenium. Awareness of impermanence is deeply ingrained in me, and the awareness is comforting.”
With lots of people wondering what the latest hurricane might do to their own homes, community, town, or city…it is comforting to realize that in the big picture…we all live within a house of cards…and all it takes is a natural disaster to realize just how impermanent our lives really are. Security in life is an illusion…animals intuitively understand this concept..while man takes longer to get there.
So until tomorrow…Our faith begins and ends with God… not man…it is to Him we should relinquish our temporal possessions and instead trust in His lantern to show us the right path to take in times of trouble.
Today I am going to Mt. Pleasant to keep the children for Mandy’s birthday. John is taking her out for a birthday dinner…and we will have a little family birthday celebration ….Mandy was a Labor Day birthday girl and worth every bit of the labor! 🙂 Mandy’s actual birthday is September 3…this Tuesday.
***Remember…with all the extra forewarning this time… don’t forget to say “Rabbit, Rabbit” this Sunday morning… bright and early… and have a wonderful month! 🙂
*Susan Swicegood’s beautiful mother and Kaitlyn’s grandmother ( Judy McCann) was diagnosed with breast cancer just recently and this Thursday the family will meet with her team of doctors to decide on future treatments and what approaches are the best for her. Please say prayers for Susan, Kaitlyn, Judy and her family as they face these difficult decisions…praying that God is leading the way-showing the doctors the right path…so to make the right choice for Judy and all her family who adores her!!!
(In the family picture…Judy is next to Susan, Kaitlyn’s mom, …second on the right)
Love my newest addition to the front side yard!!!
As of right now it looks as if you might feel the storm. Prayers for all of you.
Right now, hopefully, it looks like it will skirt the coast and then head north out to sea…so we will be on the weaker side of the storm…praying this trend continues. Thank you for your prayers.
Praying for Judy. 🙏
Praying for you and all your family too! 🙏
Love you, Becky!❤️
Thank you Patty….the same for your family and hope this new school year brings nothing but fulfillment and happiness for Kristen. I love you.
Prayers for Kaitlyn’s grandmother and also for all those in the path of the hurricane…you are right..nothing on Earth belongs to us…we are just visiting on our way to a Heavenly Home…
If man understood this impermanence perhaps the greed that drives all things on earth would disappear….taking with it wars,self-empowerment, dictatorships, and all other destructive ways of man over his fellow man.
