Don’t Just Be Present For Christmas… Instead BE the Present

God’s Everyday ” Christmas ” Gifts to Me ( August 2019)

Dear Reader:

Can you believe it? We got here all intact…Christmas Eve!

This year… instead of just giving a gift or present… why not be one? How? Be the very best you with the brightest smile shining as brightly as the Christmas Star…. light up the room!

Hint: What is a fun, free gift for everyone… REALLY bundle up at your family or friend’s gathering and go look for the Christmas Star. ( Check out Santa’s sleigh along the way!)

Ask everyone, including the children , which star they think is the brightest…like the Christmas Star was for the Three Wise Men… and astrologers.

Speaking of…. since the Gospel of Matthew was written in 80 AD ( 80 years after the fact) there are many modern astrological theories today of what might have been the Christmas Star” leading the Wise Men to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

Some popular theories are the star was the planet Venus, a comet, the Dog constellation ( Sirius) , a supernova ( exploding star) conjunction of two planets ( Saturn and Jupiter)

Comet
Sirius
Supernova

So until tomorrow… Tell the children if you truly want to see a miracle… just go outside and look up into the night sky… it is full of miracles… including us!

Today is my favorite day-Winnie the Pooh

Wishing you clear skies and wide eyes this Christmas Eve!

Vickie gave me this Christmas lantern and I added the adorable ” winter bird” she gave me last year! I think it is warming up by the light!
Vickie and her son, John, helped me move ” Big Red” and all the poinsettias inside… only non-living decor was left on the porch…Coldest Christmas in the Lowcountry in quite awhile!
Mother Nature is throwing out one last beautiful sighting before the single digits come calling!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE to our FAMILY of READERS!

About Becky Dingle

I was born a Tarheel but ended up a Sandlapper. My grandparents were cotton farmers in Laurens, South Carolina and it was in my grandmother’s house that my love of storytelling began beside an old Franklin stove. When I graduated from Laurens High School, I attended Erskine College (Due West of what?) and would later get my Masters Degree in Education/Social Studies from Charleston Southern. I am presently an adjunct professor/clinical supervisor at CSU and have also taught at the College of Charleston. For 28 years I taught Social Studies through storytelling. My philosophy matched Rudyard Kipling’s quote: “If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.” Today I still spread this message through workshops and presentations throughout the state. The secret of success in teaching social studies is always in the story. I want to keep learning and being surprised by life…it is the greatest teacher. Like Kermit said, “When you’re green you grow, when you’re ripe you rot.”
